National Programs

The Australian Divisions of General Practice receives funding from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and other sources to manage national programs for the Divisions of General Practice Network to support general practice locally.

The Australian Division of General Practice

Australian Divisions of General Practice (ADGP), established in 1998 as a peak national body represents 118 divisions of general practice and their state-based organisations across Australia.  We are the largest representative voice for general practice in Australia with over 95 per cent of Australia's GPs members of a local division of of general practice.  The divisions network is an integral component of the Australian Government's general practice strategy.

The Alliance of NSW Divisions Limited is the NSW State Based Organisation. All 37 NSW Divisions are members.

Stakeholders include RDN, State and Commonwealth Health departments, Australian Divisions of General Practice, other SBOs, community and consumer groups.

The aim of the Alliance is to support and enhance the work of NSW Divisions of General Practice. The Alliance ensures that the voice of General Practice in NSW is heard, to enhance the planning and implementation of health services at a state and national level. With all the constituents - the NSW Divisions and their General Practitioners (GPs) - the Alliance is building a cohesive network of relationships with organisations involved in improving the health and wellbeing of the people of NSW.

This network helps raise the profile of the Divisions and GPs among health planners, allied health professionals, consumers, the community, and other stakeholders.

As well as individual programs, the Alliance also assists Divisions and the Divisions Program with public relations, education and training, and other general support.
